Green Envy

This Winter  2016 color palette, designers’ pay homage to revolutionary moments in American history, from the seductive ‘20s to the bohemian hippie and modernists of the ‘60s and ‘70s.

The seasonal primary color trend of is “green!” There is one significant distinction in the colors this season: A grand shift towards an evolving color palette that is not reliant on color distinctions typically assigned to each gender. This Fall, designers look to sartorial styling and fabrics to define both a masculine and feminine interpretation of hues and color combinations.

The season’s color palette is a warm spectrum of muted greens passing by dark grays, warm light browns or marsala, with brighter hits of deep teal, antique pink, dusty orange, and intense purple.

Of these, the one color that has attracted the most attention, in its varying hues like herb, emerald to teal is green! Reminiscent of new beginnings, but also evocative of the environment and a conscious way of treading on the earth, green has gained much more significance than that previously attributed to the beautiful color. A mix of blue and yellow, green is vibrant and not garish, calming, but not sleepy, and thus making it the perfect hue to include in your transition wardrobe this Fall and Winter.

The devil is in the details! From big belts, fun furs to cool capes and sexy lingerie, the fall-winter 2016 season was filled with covetable clothing. Here are five ready to wear trends you don’t want to wear you, so choose wisely what is best for your figure’s frame no matter your height.

BIG BELTS

It’s time to accentuate the waist with big bold belts. This season designers did draw the eye to the midriff to build hourglass shapes, that create a bold color contrast, or just to make an outfit look more like the vixen is in control!

CAPES

A trend that just will not go away, capes were back on the catwalk in a big way this season! Valentino has always made a strong argument for this classy, yet sometimes cumbersome outerwear. But this time, some of the best, and perhaps most user-friendly, options came down the Michael Kors runway.

Exercise this trend with caution, if you can pull them off, capes are great statement alternative to coats when the weather is mild enough to enjoy them.

LINGERIE

Underwear as outerwear is not a new fashion concept. What we know is Lingerie is highly desirable at any season. Design houses Louis Vuitton, Nicolas Ghesquière’s sporty take on the freshly high styled looked while Dolce & Gabbana once gain proved they know how to work black lace like nobody’s business.

We expect that next season, being caught “undressed” will be the height of sexy sophistication!

FUN FUR

Winter collections equal fur. There were a lot of fashionable furs on the runway in all four fashion capitals. Traditional furs at Dior spawned new appeal.  The playful pompoms at Celine are eye-catching, and Fendi always knows how to deliver when it comes to crafting creative pelt options.

A special shout-out needs to be given to designers Stella McCartney and Ralph Lauren. Both of them fooled quite a few fashion veterans with their faux fur options. Making yet again a strong argument for choosing a fur alternative.

STATEMENT SHOES

No fashion roundup of trends would be complete without a look at the always inventive footwear that designers offer up die-hard fashionistas every season. This time, they were treated to furry boots, crystal-covered heel-less heels, pink pompons on silver sandals and sexy knee-high black lace-up boots. This selection is only a handful of all the quirky and original shoes that were displayed. What a fashion feast for the eyes…and feet!

The Fall 2016 palette is deeply rooted in multifaceted, androgynous colors. The juxtaposition of color from opposite sides of the spectrum emphasizes poise and confidence on the runway. This is the first time we see a truly unisex color palette. Stringing together an affection for colors and styling that are innately easy to wear by both men and women to portray effortless sophistication.  Written by: Ann Lauren
