How to Look Taller Without Heels
Almost every petite women encounters the same dilemma throughout their life: Wear the heels, or rock the flats? This question is one that rings the brains of petite women every time they open the closet to pick out their outfit for the day. The reason being most petite ladies want to give the illusion that they are taller and leaner, heels are usually every fashion guru’s go-to leg lengthening trick.
What if you are just not in the mood to wear heels? While heels are a fool-proof way of adding inches to your frame, there are other ways to elongate your frame without sacrificing your comfort. Here are three great ways to look taller without sacrificing your feet to do so.
1. Keep It Vertical
If you are a petite woman, vertical stripes are your best friend. To make your body appear taller, it’s all about creating the illusion that you have length. Vertical stripes create a line up and down your body, in contrast to horizontal stripes which create a line across your body that causes you to look short and stout.
Vertical lines add height to your frame while preventing you from looking wider.
2. Go Monochromatic
While patterns are a great way to spice up an outfit, they can easily take away length from your body if you aren’t wearing heels. By wearing a top and a bottom of the same color or shade, it creates the illusion of length.
This is because the top and bottom halves of your body will run together instead of being divided by two different colored/pattered tops or bottoms.
3. Lose the Loose
Wearing loose clothing is the number one way to drown your body and make yourself look stumpy and short. By wearing formfitting clothing and clothing tailored to fit your body, you will prevent making yourself look shorter than you actually are.
By tailoring, or selecting properly scaled clothes that fit you well, you’re creating length instead of both adding width (making you appear shorter and heavier), which all petite women can appreciate this fashion strategy to look your best!
