This week on the Bella Petite Hour we will focus on “model and talent industry news,” featuring guest host of FOX News Ginger Puglia, as she interviews two intriguing guest.
The discussion will include new pilots, model searches, new industry trends and what work petite women are doing in the entertainment and modeling industry.
Swan Bowden President of Focus International Agency is our first guest interview. Swan has exciting news about several new “pilots” her agency is producing and casting, as well as petite model searches for Bella Petite Magazine, editorial shoots coming to Hawaii next year and the latest trends in the modeling industry.
Right now the hottest trend in the modeling industry according to Swan is models over 30 years old and family shoots for lifestyle magazines and resort campaigns. The pay scale for most of these jobs is upwards of $3200 a day! The complete rundown on model and family rates will be discussed on the show.
Cindy Vela, a current Bella Petite Magazine cover girl, will also join us on the show. Cindy was born in south Texas and grew up speaking English and Spanish in a rural part of the state. At the age of 10, after her father handed her a family owned saxophone, she took an interest in music. Throughout her high school years, she was very involved academically and won numerous awards in music competitions.
Vela attended the University of Texas in Brownsville and, on the first day of class, she knew that her time at U.T. Brownsville would be exceptional. While in school, Vela became lead saxophonist in both the top jazz band and concert band, and participated in national and international concerts and competitions across the United States and Mexico. A few of those concerts gave her the opportunity to open shows for legends Tito Puente, Celia Cruz and Jose Feliciano.
It was in college that Cindy caught the eye of photographers and started modeling and appearing in commercials. Cindy continued attending college and received a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education. She went on to become a Texas middle school band director and helped her students win various awards, all while teaching them the importance of education and the arts.
A short time ago, Vela moved to Los Angeles to continue the work she had started in the entertainment industry. While in Los Angeles, Cindy was personally asked by esteemed fashion designer, Ximena Valero, to become a fit model. As a result, Cindy was asked to be a runway model for Valero’s fashion shows and has now been named the “Face of Ximena Valero Fashion.” As a print model, Cindy can be seen on covers and spreads for fashion magazines and in national print ads for major companies.
As an actress, Cindy has appeared on stage, television, and film. Stage works include Father of the Bride, Let the Eagle Fly and The Wonderful Ice Cream Suit, which was written and produced by award winning author Ray Bradbury (Fahrenheit 451). Cindy worked on a pilot with directors Robert Ben Garant and Tomas Lennon of Reno 911 and later played the title role of Desdemona in the award winning film ‘Desdemona: A Love Story’.
