How To Dress Between Seasons
Cool mornings and warm afternoons make for pleasant days, but dressing for this spring-ish type of weather can really be a nightmare. Here are some tips on how to stay stylish through the awkward transition between winter and spring, as modeled by some of our favorite petite celebrities.
5’2’’ Rachel Bilson has the right idea with this one. You never know when a gust of wind is going to strike, so pants are always a great option during this in-between season. A short-sleeved shirt will keep you cool in the afternoon, but having a jacket and scarf on hand to throw on will keep you warm during the weather’s moodier moments. And since it’s getting close to springtime, ditch the darker colors and go for a pop of color, like the sunny yellow in Rachel’s scarf.
Tip 2: Crop it
Just because it may get a little chilly in the mornings and evenings, you shouldn’t be afraid to show some skin. 5’5’’ Miley Cyrus has mastered the crop-top look, sporting it on both the gym floor and on the red carpet. Her glam look at the 2012 “The Hunger Games” premiere is a great outfit inspiration. A maxi skirt keeps the look from being too summery, and the peek of skin above the waist is breezy and chic. Add some platforms for height and you’re ready to go.
Tip 3: Add some color
Maybe the simplest way to master this season transition is by sporting spring colors. 5’0’’ Jada Pinkett Smith shows how bright pastels can make all the difference. Go ombré with the same color like Jada did or do some pastel color blocking with greens and blues. The colors will brighten up any day, even if that cool morning turns into a rain shower in the afternoon.
