Look Festive and Fabulous This Holiday Season

Tis the season for hot drinks, cold weather, and endless invitations to your social list’s holiday soirees. Of course, with the season comes long lines at the mall that can be deterring, especially when you’re trying to find a dress that’s perfect and memorable. However, armed with these fashionable tips and inspiration from our favorite petite celebrities, you’ll be able to sashay through the crowds to find exactly what you want and arrive at your party looking festive and fabulous.

If you have proportionally short legs, which is often the case with petite women, the best way to make them look longer is to show them off. Rock a super-mini hemline with high heels to elongate your stems. Don’t worry about being cold though; wear opaque tights that match your shoes for a further lengthening effect.

Petite fashionista Kim Kardashian (5’2″) shows us how it’s done here. Her festive dress is great for a holiday bash and its high hemline shows off a lot of leg, but her combination of black tights and heels keeps the look classy, covered up, and helps lengthen her legs.

A more unconventional option for petite women is the maxi-dress! Yes, even though this look is typically reserved for taller women, a long dress with the right proportions will actually make a tiny frame look beautifully elongated. Just be careful to avoid a dress that’s full and lean toward a column dress that skims over your body.

If you’re intrigued by the idea of wearing a long dress but are worried about being too formal for a holiday party, avoid a dress that is sleeveless or strapless and opt for something a little more covered-up. Petite actress Rachel Bilson’s (5’1) dress is a great example of this. The cap sleeves are an elegant element of the dress, but also prevent it from becoming too formal. They’ll also keep you warmer in the chillier weather! Also note how her skirt is not too full of fabric and simply glides over her body. The overall look makes someone as petite as Rachel look much taller and is perfect if you’re looking for something a little different this holiday season.
