Fabulously Petite Celebrities: How To Dress Between Seasons

Summer coming to an end only leads to one thing: The awkward time between Summer and Fall means saying goodbye to the daily uniform of shorts and flip flops, but not knowing if it’s too soon to welcome jeans and combat boots. Here are some tips on how to dress appropriately between seasons while complimenting a petite figure:

1. The Petite Maxi DressHow To Wear A Maxi-Nicole-Richie

No one can rock a maxi dress better than petite designer Nicole Richie (5’0″). The length of the dress elongates petite figures especially when worn with a wedge-style shoe. Wear darker colors to make it more fitting for autumn. Solids are great when paired with a belt or gold accessories but patterns (as shown on Richie) are nice if you want to stand out wearing a simple outfit. If it gets a little chilly, pair the dress with a classic leather or tweed jacket.

The maxi dress is a simple way to look fabulous without having to try too hard on coordinating an outfit. The key is to accessorize appropriately. By just pairing a simple dress with a couple gold bangles or an embellished headband, you can truly make your outfit stand out.

2. The Printed Petite Pant

I’m a little relieved to see the printed pant making a comeback for the upcoming fall season. A nice skinny jean with a print has the kristin-cavallari-paisley-print-pantmagical ability to spruce up any outfit and automatically make it look more fashionable and put-together.

Petite celebrity Kristin Cavallari (5’3″) pulls off a paisley print pant with a plain white tank top—giving all the attention to the pants.

The key to pulling off this trend is to getting them hemmed perfectly. Even with skinny jeans, if the pants are hemmed just right without any bunching at the bottom, then the outfit will look more put together and the pants will give off an elongated illusion to the legs. Pair any pair of pants with a plain tank top or a v-neck tee. The combination between the long pants and the short sleeve top will be absolutely lethal during the couple months transitioning from summer to fall.

3. The Petite Midi Skirt

The midi skirt is an adorable trend. With the length cut right below the knee, the skirt is inspired by longer skirts and dresses women of the 50’s would often wear with yet again a return in the ‘70’s, so here it is again!  The longer length makes this trend perfect for Fall, but appropriate for the currently warmer temperatures.Olivia-Munn-midi-skirt

Petite fashionista Olivia Munn (5’4″)  pairs her midi skirt with a tucked in blouse and chunky heels. Like the maxi skirt, it’s important to pair the skirt with a pair of heels or wedges in order to avoid looking “stumpy”.

Especially when worn with a tucked in shirt or a crop top, like a maxi skirt, the midi skirt creates an illusion—making the body look longer from the waist down.
