Bella Petite Hour “Petite Model News” Cover Girl AIKO & Agent Swan Bowden

The May 11th “Bella Petite Hour” radio show (with Ann Lauren) features special guests: petite model cover girl finalist Aiko and Hawaii Focus International agent and director Swan Bowden.

Aiko is the May Bella Petite cover girl finalist! She is one of twelve finalist to be selected this year to vy for the prestigious position of “cover girl.” You can find out who all of the petite model finalist are on the “Bella Petite Models” page and read about their thoughts on the significance of Bella Petite!

5’2″ Petite Model Aiko

Born in Kobe, Japan, Aiko’s family moved her to San Francisco, CA by age three.  She now resides in Seattle, WA.  At the ripe age of five years old, Aiko began training in ballet and jazz, which continued for the next twelve years.  In high school she was a competitive cheerleader, and her squad took first place in the Washington statewide competition!

Aiko, understanding the importance of education, obtained a bachelors degree in public relations from Gonzaga University.  While in college she continued cheerleading and became captain of the squad, giving her further opportunities traveling to the WCC and NCAA tournaments, where she appeared on ESPN’s College Game Day.

A year ago Aiko decided to pursue her passion of fashion and become a model.  Quickly, she became a aware of the lack of opportunity for petite models and now she is determined to help change the discriminatory fashion industry height standards.

In a recent appearance in “Nifty Magazine,” she talked about petite models deserving the same respect and representation as 5’9″ models and how she’s not willing to allow her 5’2″ stature to deter her dream of becoming a model.

Aiko tells Bella Petite, “I think it is important for petite woman to have an advocate. That’s precisely what Bella Petite is, speaking out for petite woman’s rights within the modeling industry. Without that voice and a publication for petite woman to be seen in there would be less opportunity.”

Focus International Hawaii Agent Swan Bowden

Our second guest is Bella Petite’s new regional director in Hawaii Swan Bowden. Swan is Editor-in-Chief of Hawaii With Focus Magazine and the owner/agent of Focus International Hawaii.   Later this year we will be producing a Bella Petite editorial event in Hawaii for registered Bella Petite members only.
