Petite Model 5’3″ Toneya (2011) Age 27: Bella Petite is important to petite female consumers because in contemporary society there is a strong perception that in order to be considered beautiful one needs to reach only a certain ideal or standard of beauty. Suffice to say this standard is completely inaccurate & fails to acknowledge that there is a diversity of beauty in the world that should be recognized. Women of all shapes & sizes should have equal opportunity to be recognized in high fashion & beauty campaigns as tall women are not the only people who have potential in the modeling industry. Bella Petite magazine has the courage to bring forth a movement inspiring millions of women across the globe, challenging industry standards and thus bringing equal opportunity to all women. I believe that with continous effort & persistence, industry standards will erode and change over time so as to include petite models in the industry. I think that education is a key factor in seeing a change in beauty standards which can only be achieved by more support & exposure by the public & the media with Bella Petite Magazine. We, as consumers have an incredible power & capacity to change the world if we band together and commit to making a change for good.Cover Shot Photographer: |

Petite Model 5’1″ Kat (2011) Age 36: Bella Petite is important because I believe that many women feel left out by the fashion and beauty industries. Petite women are one of many groups of consumers that are not represented by the media. The standard of beauty promoted by these industries represent an unrealistic, rare and unattainable ideal. It seems that there has been an effort in recent years to celebrate the many diverse looks and types of women that make up the landscape of the real world, although the status quo still prevails in most major media markets. Bella Petite provides petite females with an opportunity to relate to and learn of petite celebrities and models who have found much success in the entertainment, fashion, and beauty industries. By featuring such celebrities and models Bella Petite offers encouragement and support to petite women trying to succeed in those industries. The fashion section of Bella Petite Magazine offers a great source of information and ideas that encourage petite women to try the latest the latest trends and provides useful tips and tricks on how to highlight and flatter our petite figures. To do my part to help bring along industry change, I would like to start in my own community by working with designers that cater to petite women and introduce them to the many great opportunities that Bella Petite offers. I would like to expand that effort by networking with talented up and coming designers throughout the country and internationally and introducing them to Bella Petite. Petite Model 5’3″ Tamika (2011) Age 38: I am a United Kingdom based petite model and Bella Petite is important because I find it troubling that I can not relate to fashion magazines ever. So many petite women feel low self esteem because the images we see are not real and clothing does not look the same on us petites. I want to be able to enjoy fashion as much as tall ladies do! For the fashion industry to change petite women need to show great support for BellaPetite and find ways to spread the news about BellaPetite our fashion advocate! The stats are on BellaPetite about the market we represent. The fashion industry will care about petite consumers because we show support for the BellaPetite the only fashion magazine in the world for petite women. After all the years of beautiful petite actresses and girls trying to be models, we can see that it is not enough we must do more and we can now that BellaPetite exist for us. I personally go to fashion and beauty blogs and YouTube all the time and post links to BellaPetite to help let every petite woman know about this. I want to be great role model for petite women and by participating and avidly promoting this way we can make change happen together. For me the best role model is not me it is Ann Lauren for taking the initiative, having great vision, being selfless and doing something bigger to create opportunity for all petite women to appreciate, thank you! Petite Model 5’2″ Jax (2011) Age 21: Bella Petite is important to the consumer because the majority of women are shorter than the average “fashion model” that they are forced to relate to. When they see something that they want to buy in a magazine it sets them up for disappointment because they don’t look like the images. The clothes don’t fit like they do on the tall models. When they look at Bella Petite they see what works for the average women and can bring it home and feel good about how they look. It helps the average women put together current stylish looks that fit.I have been following all the information on Bella Petite well before I submitted to the model search. I think the magazine has a lot of important information and news that I find personally interesting and useful not only to my modeling but to my life. I also find it inspirational to see all the successful people that you feature. Absolutely would read and subscribe to this awesome magazine!I think what needs to happen for the fashion industry to change is for them to realize it Is financially beneficial. Petite women are the majority yet they have always settled to be treated like a niche market. We are not a niche market. We are the majority and as soon as we band together and hit the industry in there pocket they will notice.Bella Petite is the major player starting the petite movementand is the catalyst for creating change in the fashion industry. Banding together and rewarding those companies taking notice will encourage more in the industry to adjust there standard.Cover Shot Photographer: Jim Jurica |

Petite Model 5’2″ Lauren (2011) Age 24: Bella Petite magazine inspires and gives hope to shorter models. There are a lot of challenges that petite models face in the industry, and it proves that even if you are short, you should follow your dreams.I contribute the petite fashion movement by constantly blogging and working hard every day with clients, agents, and photographers to prove you don’t need to be 5’8”+ to be a model.I would definitely subscribe to Bella Petite even if there was not a model search. It is encouraging read positive news about petite women and to see other models as short, or shorter than me, out there achieving success.Cover Shot Photographer: Marc Sacro |

Petite Model 5’3″ Crystal (2011) Age 26: “Life is not about being accepted by the public, but learning to accept yourself. It is important for women with all shapes and sizes to feel beautiful. Bella Petite Magazine showing the world that you don’t have to be a certain “height” to have what it takes to be beautiful is extraordinary and will help our society see what true beauty is.I subscribe to Bella petite magazine. Doing this is supportive of all petite women. It is much more than a fashion magazine. It helps us voice what real beauty is. What comes from within. Not just putting a 6ft tall model on the front page because it is what this society has molded what beauty should be.I have contributed to the Bella petite fashion movement by word of mouth. Not only does Bella petite have the latest fashion in beauty and fashion, it is fascinating and fun and I want to share it with the world. The thought of helping other women realize that they are beautiful is as rewarding as it can get.”Cover Shot: |

Petite Model 5’4″ Fatima (2011) Age: 24: “According to the National Center for Health Statistics, the average height for an adult female in the United States is about 5’3 inches. Since that is the average height we represent majority of consumers. Petite women need to be able to identify and connect with fashion, beauty and brands. That is why the Bella Petite fashion movement is important to petite women. The individuals creating brands and products, as well as clothing designers need to portray that beauty is diverse and it comes in diffrent shapes and sizes.Petite women are the majority in the world we need to make our voices heard and faces seen and change the standards with BellaPetite.com.The people that the designers design for is us, the consumers.I represent what Bella Petite Magazine stands for. I know that beauty comes in all shapes, sizes and ethnicities, and it is time to make that noticed. We now have Bellapetite.com to make this happen for petite women!”Cover Shot Photographer: Bruce Talbot |

Petite Model 5’4″ Chelsie (2011) Age 20: “I know the Bella Petite fashion movement is important to petite women because their is strength in numbers and us petite women are discriminated against so much in the fashion world yet we represent the average sized women.I am trying to break the rules by showing the world that even a petite girl like me can become a fashion model. That I have all the same qualifications, personality, skills and looks as a women 5’10″ if not more.I would subscribe to Bella Petite Magazine if there wasn’t a model search because I find it interesting and I like the pictures. For the fashion industry standards change, I think it will take a lot of work and getting enough of the designers, agencies and photographers to wake up and see that beauty comes in all shape, sizes and colors. It’s time to think outside of the box.Bella Petite is essential to unite us and show the industry petite models are fashionable, so we can change the unreasonable standards.”Cover Shot Photographer: Richard Flaskegaard |

Petite Model 5’2″ Myrriah (2011) Age 32: “It seems the current fashion standards alienate women because the majority of the mainstream trends are projected towards women for the purposes of totally altering their looks and burying our beauty in order to fall into a uniform mold instead of enhancing the natural essence that is the feminine figure wether or not she is petite, to make an original statement of style, comfort, and class that is the embodiment of true personal reflection which results in the most flattering form of fashion and self-confidence!The next time you see another petite woman, compliment her shoes or purse, then let her know that there is a wonderful place for fashion, health and beauty all in one place for petite women like us at BellaPetite.com!Fashion designers should market their clothing to petite women because can you name anything else as powerful as a beautiful self-confident petite professional woman?? didn’t think so!What I like most about being petite is that I can accomplish just as much in this world as any “tall” women around. Wether i am in the fashion industry, business professional or anything that i set my mind to. Being petite is not a pit fall but an advantage on many plains. I love the feeling of empowerment breaking through barriers brings!”Cover Shot Photographer: Christine Moody |

Petite Model 5’1″ Riya (2011) Age 34: “Bella Petite Magazine is here to help petite women become mainstream in fashion. I am a 5’1″ model and actress in India and we have so many beautiful petite women and rarely do we see tall women anywhere. For me this is exciting to see a fashion magazine going against the norm!I subscribed to Bella Petite many months ago before realizing there was even a model search, so for me this magazine is something I have dreamed about forever. I have always wanted a magazine that shows women like me and wearing the fashions too! I don’t like the tall woman in clothes and I know I won’t look the same as they do, so the magazines like Vogue and Elle don’t really appeal to me.I am a voluptuous petite woman and Bella Petite is great news for women of all ages, shapes and sizes! For the fashion and beauty standards to change it will take petite women creating a demand for a petite fashion magazine. If they buy the current magazines that is bad they are going with the way it is. They like me should be about joining BellaPetite and telling all our petite friends to subscribe too!Bella Petite Magazine is the new Vogue for petite women around the world!” |

Petite Model 5’4″ Angela (2011) Age 27: “ I was blown away by the Bella Petite Magazine Preview Issue. Working closely with Ann Lauren and and Bella Petite magazine over the past year allowed me to see all the hard work, innovation, and dedication that was being put into the magazine but nothing could have prepared me for how great it turned out. It is exciting, user friendly, and exactly what petites need I think petite female consumers will want Bella Petite Magazine over old fashion rags magazine because of the simple fact that they don’t cater to us in any way and Bella Petite does so it makes an easy choice!Besides being petite models, we female consumers must contribute and advocate for fashion industry recognition in several ways.First we must voice the isssue and stop buying products that aren’t made to cater to us, also we need to let the designers know we want and will buy petite designs!Subscribing to Bella Petite Magazine and getting involved with all of our efforts will be so important in gaining the recognition that we need!I would urge fashion designers to take notice of the huge market that petites make up and buy into the fact that IF YOU DESIGN IT FOR US (PETITES) AND ADVERTISE IT TO US…WE WILL COME and p.s We make up the majority of women in the US!”Cover Shot Photographer: Josh Legacy |

Petite Model 5’5″ Courtney (2011) Age 26: “I feel that BellaPetit is extremely important to petite women because it’s one of the ONLY affiliations to push petite models forward. It’s very important to have a strong home base for petites. One woman just can’t do it all there needs to be a group of women bonded together and Bella Petite allows us to come together as one and make the industry change. I’m fortunate to have been part of a shoot for Bella Petite Magazine.I contribute by promoting this movement and being a role model for the magazine. You have to participate to help move petites forward and what a better way than to have models from the petite cycle of Americas Next Top Model.Bella Petite Magazine takes it to the next level of the petite fashion movement, I really believe its working!I subscribe to BellaPetite.com and I didn’t join it for the model search, I joined it because it represents everything I represent, “hope” for every petite model that’s out there.”Cover Shot Photographer: |

Petite Model 5’2″ Myrriah Train (2010) Age 32: “I feel that Bella Petite is proving that petite women have the attributes, style, class, fashion sense, and work ethic that our taller counterparts possess, but they are the women considered the iconic look of fashion and beauty for their height.I subscribe to this magazine because I identify with it!I enjoy the sisterhood of petite women coming together together for a common cause. And we can share style secrets, modeling techniques, keep each other informed on the ups and downs of the industry and how to avoid the pratfalls and make the correct decisions to excel in this cut throat industry while keeping our pride.Bragging about yourself is a rocky slope, but I’d have to say that my main attributes to Bella Petite would be the fact that I’m a single mother with a good job; which gives me my never quit work ethic.I have always been drawn to fashion, acting, and modeling for as long as I can remember, so my drive is not monetarily based. I do it because I’m passionate about the art that I help create. And there just doesn’t seem to be enough short haired, small statured models to be gracing the cover of that many modeling publications.I like to say… Petite in stature, big in sprit.”Cover Shot Photographer:: Photographer Robert Christopher |

Petite Model 5’2″ Colleen (2010) Age 37: “The Bella Petite movement is very important to me, since I was young I loved photography, but being “petite” I knew it would be very hard to make a profession out of modeling, so I became a DJ.I would like to contribute by being a positive role model for petite young girls. It is important to be happy with your body image. Have a healthy weight. I am so tired of seeing underweight, 6 ft tall women and thinking this is what you have to look like to be beautiful.I definitely subscribe to Bella Petite to help with supporting the cause. I wish to be s spokesperson for petite models regaurdless of the model search…I think I am a great cover girl for Bella Petite because I am so passionate about modeling and photography.I take a lot of pride in my photoshoots because I love art and creating iconic photos…I love and support what Ann Lauren “editor in chief of Bella Petite” is doing for petite models.”Cover Shot Photographer: Carlos Armando MUA/Hair: Martin Christopher Styling: Richard Bowman Designs |

We are all beautiful and it’s up to us to depict that in print, tv and film for not just ourselves but for future generations.I will contribute to Bella Petite’s efforts through my commentary to others through word of mouth and through the web letting people know that the movement exists and it is here to make a difference.I absolutely subscribe to Bella Petite magazine, regardless of the model search. I love fashion, beauty and entertainment and Bella Petite would relate it all to me… a real and petite woman! To change the fashion industry it takes the voices of the masses. AND IT CAN BE DONE!At 5’2, I did not believe a career in the modeling industry was attainable. With hard work, strength and persistence I have been able to break the mold by walking in fashion shows, been printed in magazines and appearing in ads for large corporations.Anything can and is possible… no matter how tall you are. BellaPetite.com is leading the way for petite women!”Cover Shot Photographer: Nolan Dean |

Petite Model 5’3″ Jennifer (2010) Age: 48: “The petite movement is important for the fact that majority of woman are 5’5 and under and they want to see fashions displayed by woman who fit that description. Most woman don’t fit into a standard of super tall and thin and want to have representation that is closer to realistic.I have contributed throughout this year to the petite movement by promoting BellaPetite via business cards, talking to people about it, leaving comments, posting articles and suggesting friends to join BellaPetite.I subscribe to Bella Petite for the fact it represents petite women. I would love to see this trend happen as many others do. Showing relevancy to petite woman is a beautiful thingI think continuing to put the petite movement out there will change things. Continuing to talk about, create buzz keep it growing.Change can be slow, but it can happen if our efforts are consistant. What makes me a great Cover Model is the fact that I have continued to pursue a career as a petite model for over 20 years. I have not let the standard discourage me, I have persevered.I have also done much as a voice for BellaPetite for almost a year now even though I didn’t make cover model until just now. I am a positive role model for woman in many ways, not just as a petite model with years of experience and perseverance, but I lead a healthy, fit ambitious life.”Cover Shot Photographer: Tom Lane |

Petite Model 5’3″ Chanelle (2010) Age: 25: “Honestly, I was surprised that someone has decided to step out of the norm and decided to dedicate a entire magazine to petite models. I was elated to know that people actually appreciated the talent beyond the average model height. It is extremely important for all models, not only the petite, to know about Bella Petite movement, because there are a lot of models who can do the exact same thing as the taller models, but do not get recognized for because of our height.I subscribe to Bella Petite Magazine whether or not there was a model search, because of the fact that this is a magazine that is trying to change the discriminatory height standards in the fashion industry.I love being a part of that!I believe in order for the fashion industry to change, there would have to be a company that forces it to see talent for other factors, besides the standard fashion model height at 5’9″. It would be great if there were more clothing designers that market towards petite fashion using petite models that we can identify with.” |

Petite Model 5’4″ Kaleigh (2010) Age 23: ”Petite woman need to be recognized. Most of our leading women, celebrities, actresses and performers in the United States right now are considered petite. The average woman is petite and many are curvy. The Bella Petite fashion movement is critical to the future success of petite women breaking into the modeling world.Honestly, I believe when the fashion industry realizes to sell their clothing they must begin to cater to petite curvy women it will change. We are already seeing a change in Hollywood and I believe New York will follow when clothes start sitting on their racks! It’s all about making a profit…right? I personally will purchase an item much faster from a beautiful petite model than a tall, to thin unattractive gaunt model.I’m a real professional petite model and performer. I’m out there working hard in an industry who frowns on my 5’4″ curvy figure, and the fact is I’m not 5’7″. Yet, I have graced the cover of magazines, walked runways, been featured in fitness & fashion ads, represented to clothing labels as their signature model, and I was recently cast to a recurring role on TLC’s “King of the Crown.Cover Shot Photographer: Peter Baratti |

Petite Model 5’4″ Angela (2010) Age: 27: ”It would be such an honor to be a cover girl for Bella Petite Magazine. I feel like I make a great candidate because I represent what the magazine is all about. As a petite female athlete, I had to battle similar basketball height industry standards to earn my scholarship to the University of Kentucky, starting point guard position, awards and the responsibility to lead the team. Now, I am battling the same height standards in the fashion industry and am willing to fight just as hard for the petite fashion movement as I did for our place in the sports world. There were countless young girls who said the same thing to me so many times after my games: ‘I’m the smallest player on my team too and I want to be just like you.’ I want to give petite females that same inspiration to be whatever they want to be whether its a model or CEO.I subscribe to Bella Petite Magazine whether there is a model search or not because this isn’t just about me personally, it’s much bigger than a myself or model search. This magazine gives so many women like myself a place to get inspiration, fashion for us, information, support, and most importantly, a voice.”Cover Shot Photographer: Urban Photographix |

Petite Model 5’1″ Sherise (2010) Age: 21: “The Bella Petite fashion movement is important to petite women because it gives petite women like me a chance to be able to become successful and get noticed in the fashion industry. People are not all one size and one height, we are all different, so I don’t t think it’s fair that you have to be a certain height or weight to be able to be in the fashion industry.Remember the saying “good things come in small packages.I think it will take Bella Petite Magazine to start off the petite fashion craze and it’s supporters to change the fashion industries negative outlook of petites. We need designer’s making clothes for us petite women. The fashion designer’s need to have runway shows with petite models. There’s a lot of petite women out there and it’s time for us to be recognized in fashion!!”Cover Shot Photographer: Peter Baratti |

Petite Model 5’2″ Aiko (2010) Age: 27: “I think it is important for petite woman to have an advocate. That’s precisely what Bella Petite is, speaking out for petite woman’s rights within the fashion and the modeling industry. Without that voice and a publication for petite woman to be seen in there would be less opportunity.I truly believe in doing whatever I can to help this movement go forward, whether it be blogging or using the small platform I have in cyberspace to make this issue known. I am friendly, intelligent, strong and confident. Characteristics that I feel are needed to represent Bella Petite. I will promote the petite fashion movement in whatever way I can.Bella Petite is an up and coming relevant publication. Which is doing what is necessary to overcome height discrimination within the fashion industry.
