Bella Petite Magazine Cover Model Marchette Richardson
Bella Petite Cover Model Fresh Face Editorial
An intriguing combination of intellect, beauty and spice, Dr. Marchette Richardson is proud to be one of 12 Bella Petite Magazine cover models for 2013! Born in Michigan, Marchette was scouted by a John Casablancas agent while participating in a local beauty contest, which lead to her signing with Casablancas. Then she signed with the Marci Haney Talent Agency.
Modeling in Michigan (MI) afforded Marchette the opportunity to work a number of conventions, trade shows, and expositions, including; the Detroit Auto Show, the Michigan Boat Show, and the Home Builders Exposition. Marchette also worked as a promotional model, representing a number of brands. She auditioned and was chosen to Bunny at the Lansing Playboy club. When Essence Magazine came to MI to conduct their first statewide model search, Marchette was one of the ten models chosen to walk the runway, representing the magazine which she grew up reading.
Marchette moved to Los Angeles, putting her modeling career on hold, to complete her Masters degree in Child and Family Studies. Upon graduation, this do-gooder struck out to develop a solid nonprofit resume. Marchette provided counseling to highly emotionally disturbed adolescents placed in residential treatment facilities. She served as Regional Director for a foster care agency, and as Director of Social Services at a sub-acute/post-acute rehabilitation facility.
Marchettes’ final transition landed her in New York, where she currently resides. While living in Manhattan she has served as Executive Director of a nonprofit dedicated to providing services to clients with HIV and AIDS, and as Senior Vice President at an organization serving homeless and low-income clients.
In the midst of employment Marchette decided to begin working on her doctorate. While pursing her PhD she decided to move away from her current position in nonprofit management and seek a job that would bring her closer to her passion for fashion. She ended up in the lobby of Hearst Magazine. She’d applied to be a receptionist at the publishing company. During the interview process Marchette was introduced to former More Magazine Beauty and Fashion Editor Lois Joy Johnson. Lois looked at Marchette and then at her Assistant, then firmly stated, “She is far too educated to be a receptionist, but I think we can use her in the magazine. Take her to the back and snap some Polaroids.” This led to her appearance in More Magazine and latter to her being featured in Sophisticates Black Hair Magazine.
Most recently Marchette was selected as one of the faces to represent Christian Dior’s new line of Anti-aging products. She has also been sought after to join the Executive Edition of Who’s Who and has published academically in the United States and Europe.
This year’s winners will receive a photo shoot held in Hollywood for a fashionable photo spread that will appear in Bella Petite Magazine. All of Bella Petite’s twelve cover models may receive opportunities to appear in campaigns, promotional appearances, press promotions, events and editorial features throughout their reigning year.
