PETITE MODELS BEWARE! (Petite Model)  A smart general rule to follow: Don’t ever attend a modeling school and  if an agency or a management company is advertising for “petite models” it is a scam.  You will never see mainstream agencies advertise for petite models.  Usually it’s a “photo-mill” trying to entice petite models to come pay them for services such as photography or representation.  Legitimate agencies don’t do this.

When you do see mainstream agencies looking for “petite” fashion models, it’s not what you think.  The modeling industry is deceptive when referencing “petite”  in their wildly imaginative world “petite” means under 5’9″ with the cut off at 5’6″.

In a few rare instances  you may be able to obtain some work if your are under 5’6″ as a fit model, or in local mall impromptu fashion shows, so at this point there is very little opportunity in fashion and print modeling for “petites.”

FEW LEGITIMATE AGENCIES ACCEPTING PETITE MODELS

There are very few legitimate agencies in the united states.  The largest main markets for models are in  California, Chicago, and New York.  Those few do have “petite” model divisions for “commercial fashion/commercial print,” never “high fashion.”  The shorter models are mainly used in commercial print campaigns.  Sounds encouraging, but the fact is, even the few legitimate agencies with “petite” models have a majority of those models at 5’5″ to 5’8″ tall.  Agencies like Wilhelmina won’t even interview you if you’re under 5’7″. Essentially there are no real petite models as defined by the fashion standard definition of 5’5″ and under, the real definition of petite model stature.

Many how-to-modeling books, modeling schools, model consultants are misleading when they tell you there’s work for “petite” models 5’5″ and under it’s a deceptive business practice to sell you on their book or service.
